Weekend local markets are a great source of inspiration and quirky finds especially when it is in support of local businesses. The weekly Sunday market at Island East is one that promotes the best of Hong Kong – food and ingredients, handicraft, soap and cosmetic products even.

We picked out a few creative stalls selling handmade original works, from jewellery stores to an organic food kitchen.

About 10 stalls selling organic local produce reminded me of the days where you literally had to choose vegetables based on sizes and ‘conditions’. Now a days, grocery stores stock standard size everything in the same conditions, there is really no need to think too much when you pick up a pre-packed pre-washed bag of carrots!

Here are home grown organic produce from Hong Kong soil, led by the Organic Farmers Association:
