City living is presented through the eyes of Muhammad Hafiz Azizi and Nicholas Choong in this exhibition, discussing everyday experiences in the city as an individual and as the city itself.
In Muhammad Hafiz Azizi’s series, the notion that an individual’s challenges and daily struggle to make ends meet in a city with high costs of living is real.
His works depict one’s struggles in a bustling modern city filled with tall buildings and skyscrapers – not all is what it seems amidst a metropolitan city.
Nicholas Choong has long been painting cityscapes, and has over the years refined his ability to capture the energy of the city through minimal use of colours.
With clever play of contrasts, he has captured emotions of the city, from somber to vibrant, from excitement to nonchalance. And along with this, various development and stages of the city growth becomes the story of our dear city Kuala Lumpur.
The exhibition is an interesting perception of both artist’s view of Kuala Lumpur and our city’s experience and journey through different perspectives. One from afar; one from within.
